THE Rod Speakers

These are a pair of vintage Altec component speakers custom built for Rod Stewart's house, and are the only other pair in in existence.

You are bidding on a one of a kind speaker system just like the system Rod Stewart had in his house, built and designed by Top Audio Consultant Rick Riccio. The Speakers are setup to be BI ?amped and are a wonderful sounding speaker system whether listening to Rock n Roll, jazz or even classical Music.
They come with grill frames that you can have any choice of grill cloth put on them by you or just leave them off like Rod did.
The attached article was run in all these magazines by Altec: Rolling Stone, People, GQ, and Penthouse .
Also comes with a framed ad print signed by the designer.

Hmmm- would have to question the credentials of a designer who thinks a 288 is a " 1 3/4" Compression Driver"

Awesome AB!!! been waiting to see a pair of these for years...... Is it my computer, or do the walls inside the vents on the front motor board an inch and a quarter thick?

Doesn't it also look like one woofer is a 515 and the other is a 416?

What I see interesting is the use of the 802 without a horn .. just mounted to a mounting plate. Has anyone done this? At what crossover frequency would it be effective?

First off I don"t care if it is original or not was just posting as I like it !! It is what got me started with my dual woofer project... I think it is quite interesting and after all it is all ALTEC !

Looks like the Rodspeakers are for sale again. Seller says if they don't sell this time he is donating them to the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

Btw I asked the seller about the one different looking woofer. They said "That speaker was the only one of the four that was professionally cleaned by Cerwin Vega".

Hmm. Interesting.

I am also curious what Rod actually did with these speakers. Did they just sit in his house unused? Was it just a promo deal and he never really used them? Maybe he loved them and jammed out every day
